Accessibility
We want every player, family member, official and supporter to be able to use this website, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Our standard
The site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It also follows the German Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung (BITV 2.0) and EN 301 549 where they apply to a private club website.
What that means in practice
- Every page works with a keyboard alone: menus, the search dialog, the photo viewer and the map all open, close and navigate without a mouse. A visible 3-pixel focus ring shows where you are.
- Text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio in both the light and the dark theme, and the theme follows the light or dark setting of your device.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels; primary buttons are 48 pixels.
- Pages are readable at 400 percent zoom and on a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling.
- Photographs carry text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Motion is reduced when your device asks for it, including the rotating honors in the Heritage menu and the photo viewer.
- Headings, landmarks, tables and forms are labeled so screen readers can move through a page quickly.
- You can also follow the schedule and the news outside the website: subscribe to our calendar in your phone’s calendar app, or to our news feed in a feed reader.
How we check
Each time we update the website, automatic accessibility tests (axe-core) check every page in both themes at phone width, including whether anything runs off the side of the screen and whether buttons are big enough to tap, and a Lighthouse accessibility test checks the key pages. If a page fails, the update isn’t published. The style guide documents the colors, type scale and components the checks rely on.
Known limitations
- The interactive map can be hard to use with a screen reader. Every venue’s address is also written out, with a directions link.
- The machine translation offered through Google Translate may produce imperfect German; the English text is the reference version.
- Content embedded from YouTube is subject to that service's own accessibility.
- Photographs in the galleries are described briefly; detailed descriptions are added when a photographer supplies them.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of the site is hard to use, tell us through the contact form or email [email protected]. Say which page it was and what happened. Our webmaster is a volunteer who aims to reply within a week and to fix confirmed problems in the next update of the site.
We reviewed this statement on 18 October 2026 and update it whenever we change the website.
