Join the Eagles
Our coaches place you on a team by your availability and skill level. The season runs late September to April.
Who can play
You need to be 16 or older to play.
- We’re open to U.S. military of every branch, family members, DoD civilians and contractors, NATO personnel and local nationals. You don’t need a military affiliation.
- We welcome every level from novice to experienced. You need to be able to skate forward and stop with control, because we can’t teach complete beginners to skate.
- Family and military obligations come first. You answer In or Out on this website for each practice and game so your coaches can plan the lines, but there’s no minimum attendance.
- Goalies are always welcome.
Practice times
We practice at Zweibrücken Ice Rink: Wednesday 21:15 and Sunday 08:00, alternating by month.
You’ll always find upcoming events on the schedule.
Gear list
You need full equipment on the ice at every practice and game.
- Helmet with cage or visor (full cage recommended, required under 18)
- Shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves
- Hockey pants, shin guards, jock or jill, neck guard
- Skates (sharpened) and stick
- Home and away jerseys with matching socks. Every player buys their own set, and you’ll find prices and how to order on the Uniforms page. If you join after the season’s jersey order has gone out, we lend you jerseys for a deposit until your own arrive.
- Goalies: full goalie equipment. Talk to a coach before you buy.
Top-On-Ice in Mannheim is a reliable local vendor and gives members of our league, Die Players Liga (DPL), a discount. Online retailers also ship to Germany and APO addresses.
Dues and fees
Our player fees for the 2026–27 season are the same as last season.
| Fee | Amount | When due |
|---|---|---|
| Full fee | €450 | €300 by 15 October, €150 by 1 December |
| Goalie fee | €250 | €150 by 15 October, €100 by 1 December |
| Non-rostered fee | €250 | €150 by 15 October, €100 by 1 December |
| Pay-as-you-go | €20 per skate | Each skate, when space is available |
- Who pays when. If you’re on Eagles I, you can pay now. If you’re new, or on Eagles II or Eagles III, wait until your coaches confirm your roster spot before you pay, because that decides the amount due.
- How to pay. Pay by bank transfer or in cash. We strongly prefer a transfer to the club’s Wise account, which works from any bank in the eurozone.
- Bank details. Email our club president at [email protected] or use the contact form.
- Community Bank and Service Credit Union. Some of our members have had trouble with these banks’ online euro bill pay. You may need to visit your branch, or use the Wise app linked to your account.
Attendance on the website
Answer In or Out for every practice and game, whether you can come or not, so your coaches know the exact count.
- Open the event from the schedule or your team page.
- The first time, log in with the email address we have for you, using a code we send to that address, or with Google or GitHub. There’s no password. Add a passkey when the site offers one, and your next login is one tap.
- Say In or Out. You can change your answer until the event starts and add a short note for your team.
Once you’re on a team, one of our admins adds your email address and sends you a WhatsApp message inviting you to log in. If you get a new phone, log in again on it. Team conversations still happen in the team WhatsApp groups.
